In this stage I built a small system from the Intel 330 BOXD945GCLF2 motherboard. This is a dual core hyper-threaded Atom chipset that looks like a quad core server, only at 1/4 the wattage, and about 1/3 the CPU crunch power. But it’s still looks and feels snappy enough. </p> <p>I’ve currently loaded <a href="">OpenSolaris</a> as Solaris is a mature OS common in the IT world which also is very well tailored to mutli-core CPU’s.<br /> <br clear=all /></p> </div> <footer class="entry-footer"> <div class="entry-meta"> <p class="tags">Tagged as: <a href="" rel="tag">Intel Atom</a>, <a href="" rel="tag">OpenSolaris</a></p> <p class="categories">Categorized in: <a href="" rel="category">DIY server</a>, <a href="" rel="category">Energy</a>, <a href="" rel="category">General IT issues</a>, <a href="" rel="category">Linux</a>, <a href="" rel="category">MySQL</a>, <a href="" rel="category">RDBMS</a></p> <p class="date"><span class="posted-on">Posted on <a href="" rel="bookmark"><time class="entry-date published" datetime="2009-03-16T19:40:39+00:00">March 16, 2009</time><time class="updated screen-reader-text" datetime="2009-03-25T23:25:16+00:00">March 25, 2009</time></a></span><span class="byline"> by <span class="author vcard"><a class="url fn n" href="">Branedy</a></span></span></p> </div> </footer><!-- .entry-footer --> </article><!-- #post-908 --> <ul class="socialize-this"><li><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="" width="48px" height="48px" alt="Delicious" title="Delicious" /></a></li><li><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="" width="48px" height="48px" alt="Facebook" title="Facebook" /></a></li><li><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="" width="48px" height="48px" alt="Digg" title="Digg" /></a></li><li><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="" width="48px" height="48px" alt="Reddit" title="Reddit" /></a></li><li><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="" width="48px" height="48px" alt="StumbleUpon" title="StumbleUpon" /></a></li><li><a href=" Reading" target="_blank"><img src="" width="48px" height="48px" alt="Twitter" title="Twitter" /></a></li></ul> <div id="comments" class="comments-area"> <h2 class="comments-title"> One thought on “<span>Personal IT server Simulator</span>” </h2> <ol class="comment-list"> <li id="comment-69383" class="pingback even thread-even depth-1"> <div class="comment-body"> Pingback: <a href='' rel='external nofollow' class='url'>Sun challenges Amazon for cloud dominance (InfoWorld) — But As For Me</a> </div> </li><!-- #comment-## --> </ol><!-- .comment-list --> <p class="no-comments">Comments are closed.</p> <script> function hasClass( el, cls ) { return ( ' ' + el.className + ' ' ).indexOf( ' ' + cls + ' ' ) > -1; } var target = document.querySelector( '.form-allowed-tags' ); document.querySelector( 'textarea#comment' ).addEventListener( 'click', function() { if ( ! hasClass( target, 'visible' ) ) { target.className += ' ' + 'visible'; } }, false ); </script> </div><!-- #comments --> </main><!-- #main --> <nav class="navigation post-navigation" role="navigation"> <h2 class="screen-reader-text">Post navigation</h2> <div class="nav-links"><div class="nav-previous"><a href="" rel="prev">Bed Breakfast and Broadband</a></div><div class="nav-next"><a href="" rel="next">Forgotten Rule of IT!</a></div></div> </nav> </div><!-- #primary --> </div><!-- #content --> <footer id="colophon" class="site-footer" role="contentinfo"> <div class="theme-info"> <p><a href="" rel="designer">Decode</a> by Scott Smith</p> </div><!-- .theme-info --> </footer><!-- #colophon --> </div><!-- #page --> <div id="sidebar" class="sidebar left"> <div id="sidebar-top" class="sidebar-top SidebarTop"> <button id="sidebar-close" class="sidebar-close SidebarClose" title="Hide sidebar"> <svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 200 200" version="1.1" xmlns=""> <path class="close-icon" d="M0,172.881356 L72.8813559,100 L1.0658141e-14,27.1186441 L27.1186441,-2.84217094e-14 L100,72.8813559 L172.881356,0 L200,27.1186441 L127.118644,100 L200,172.881356 L172.881356,200 L100,127.118644 L27.1186441,200 Z M0,172.881356" fill="#444444"></path> </svg> </button> </div> <div class="sidebar-content"> <div class="widget-area" role="complementary"> <aside id="search-4" class="widget widget_search"><h2 class="widgettitle">Search Site</h2> <form role="search" method="get" class="search-form" action=""> <label> <span class="screen-reader-text">Search for:</span> <input type="search" class="search-field" placeholder="Search …" value="" name="s" title="Search for:" /> </label> <input type="submit" class="search-submit" value="Search" /> </form></aside><aside id="text-480337635" class="widget widget_text"> <div class="textwidget"></div> </aside> </div><!-- .widget-area --> </div> </div><!-- #sidebar --> <script type="text/javascript"> var addthis_config = {"data_track_clickback":false,"data_track_addressbar":false,"data_track_textcopy":false,"ui_atversion":"300"}; var addthis_product = 'wpp-4.0.7'; </script><script type="text/javascript" src="//"></script><script type='text/javascript' src=''></script> <!--wp_footer--> </body> </html>
