{"id":141,"date":"2005-12-08T18:13:24","date_gmt":"2005-12-08T17:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.branedy.net\/?p=141"},"modified":"2005-12-08T18:13:24","modified_gmt":"2005-12-08T17:13:24","slug":"they-came-for-the-internet-pornography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.branedy.net\/?p=141","title":{"rendered":"They came for the internet pornography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I read this article today <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/news\/opinion\/keeping-kids-from-nasties-on-the-net\/2005\/12\/07\/1133829659783.html\">Keeping kids from nasties on the net<\/a> and remembered the old recant of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/First_they_came...\">They came for the Communist<\/a> (read Pornographers here) <\/p>\n<p>But then the article about politicians in Australia, continues. <b>&#8220;&#8230;and other inappropriate material &#8230;<\/b>. This vague and broad inclusion can only mean, well just about everything that they don&#8217;t like.  The word is <b>Censorship<\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>This is again going back to the what the right wing of every country is trying to push. No freedom from the &#8216;Majority&#8217; view, &#8216;The righteous view&#8217; . It&#8217;s &#8216;Democracy&#8217; at it&#8217;s worst, a right wing republican &#8216;Taliban&#8217; point of view.    <\/p>\n<p>If you can&#8217;t control the message, control the messenger. <\/p>\n<p>And this leads back to articles I have posted here before, when ICANN halted the &#8216;xxx&#8217; domain, this would have made filtration of the porn domains easy. But if it was made this easy, it would mean that more sophisticated filters would NOT have to filter all the content on the internet, only the &#8216;xxx&#8217; domains.
