I keep being struck by the feeling that I&#8217;ve seen the issues before. Over a fairly long run in the IT industry I have the feeling that Apache and it&#8217;s contributors have been busy <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reinventing_the_wheel\" target=\"_blank\">re-inventing the wheel<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.apache.org\/projects\/hadoop.html\" target=\"_blank\">Apache Hadoop<\/a> as a distributed file system designed for large data sets. <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.apache.org\/projects\/solr.html\" target=\"_blank\">Apache Solr<\/a> a full text search server and indexer combined with <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.apache.org\/projects\/lucene_core.html\" target=\"_blank\">Apache Lucene<\/a> supplying the search libraries. Coordinated by <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.apache.org\/projects\/zookeeper.html\" target=\"_blank\">Apache ZooKeeper<\/a> all begins to sound like a description of your average <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Relational_database_management_system\" target=\"_blank\">Relational Database System (RDBMS)  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>All these elements being created by the <strong>Apache Foundation<\/strong>  have been, sometime in the past, been solved by most of the Relational (Big) database vendors.
