And everything else

As we were talking about our cat, my wife mentioned; “What would we do without him”, and I replied “Everything else!” And this brought to mind an old saying that was common when I was in the Navy. “A bitchy sailor, is a happy sailor”. This is more or less what blogging is about, a place and a platform to bitch about things, and as I blog more about politicians and government, I could apply this meaningful cat dialog to my blogging. What would I do without bad politicians and rotten government, why, everything else. Governments could reform health care, cure cancer and fly to the Moon, Mars and the Stars. We could live in peace and have happier lives with our families. And I would have to find another subject to blog about. 😉

Fianna Fáil fail to keep their election promises, what a surprise

As is the normal modus operandi for the Fianna Fáil, they have reneged on more of their election campaign promises, when Brian (can’t balance the books) Cowen announced that the tax cuts that they used to get reelected are now renounced. Brian has a 1 BILLION Euro surplus one year, and the next, they are struggling to give themselves a 14% pay raise. Where is all that money going, there can’t be that many brown envelopes in the entire country. I guess if you do your finances out of a suitcase full of money, anything is possible.

Ricardo Franco Levi looks to be a Nazi proposing censorship

Ricardo Franco Levi, Prodi’s right hand man , undersecretary to the President of the Council, has written the text to put a stopper in the mouth of the Internet. The draft law was approved by the Council of Ministers on 12 October. No Minister dissociated themselves from it. On gagging information, very quietly, these are all in agreement.
The Levi-Prodi law lays out that anyone with a blog or a website has to register it with the ROC, a register of the Communications Authority, produce certificates, pay a tax, even if they provide information without any intention to make money.

Now I know the ‘Fix’ is in.

Well now I know where Osama Bin Laden receives his finances, The Republican Party as Bin Laden says US should convert! This is the best Republican GOP propaganda that money can buy. Talk about a promotion for their War Everlasting campaign. Wow, it’s no wonder that Bush let Osama Bin Laden’s family leave the country after September 11, he was sending his employees on a holiday.

UPDATE: This Latest Bin Laden Video Is a Forgery, well it did seem too good to be true. Besides it was a bit vain of Bin Laden to dye his beard the shade it was several years ago.

Shannon Airport

Any person, let alone any politician in Ireland claiming that the closure of Shannon Airport hasn’t been ‘on the books‘ of this government for the last 10 years is either lying, or is ignorant of the truth. Ever since the ‘Open Skies’ policy the writing has been on the walls of every government building, ‘Dublin is Ireland‘ and Shannon is just an inconvenient problem that will now disappear. Wait until Aer Lingus begins to remove the Shannon/Dublin, and the Cork/Dublin routes. Then you will see that the air routes are more valuable to the airline, than the actual flights. Then you will know that Aer Lingus will begin to be sold off piecemeal just like the Eircom debacle.

Bertie is in great company

I stumbled upon this today and while I never thought that my low opinion was supported by anyone else, when people start betting on Bertie Ahern to depart as Taoiseach on/before 31 Dec 07 it makes me chuckle. This places Bertie in the same ‘Good’ company as Robert Mugabe to depart as President of Zimbabwe on/before 31 Dec 07 and George W. Bush to be impeached by House of Representatives before end of his term in office

I makes you wonder what they all have in common…corruption, lies and dishonesty. All the things a good politican needs to get elected.

Warrant-less Spying Pays off

This article is a sure sign that warrant-less spying pays off as, Bush Signs Law to Widen Reach for Wiretapping. This reeks of the smell of blackmail, from all the Democrats caught dirty, or at least with their hands in the cookie jar. We all want to believe that most politicians we elect are honest, but in reality everyone has something to hide. And Bush pulled them all out of the closet to grant himself more imperial powers. Rather than grow a spine, and call Bush’s bluff, they gave up the constitution, that ‘Dammed piece of paper’ so he could wipe his arse with it. Come the next election, time to clean house, and senate of the crap politicians who have no idea who pay’s their wages.

Bertie’s empty promises

As usual Damien is highlighting Bertie’s government failings with this
‘I ain’t really with it, I’m gettin’ off at Tara’ story.

What do you expect, Bertie can’t even tell the truth about his own expenses. And you think he would spend any money on people with needs? What, and give it to people who he doesn’t know personally? What would he give to his friends if he spent it on things like, drug prevention, drug rehabilitation, social services for children, children’s rights. That stuff is expensive, and mostly no one will notice if he just lies a bit more.

What gets me is this man got re-elected. What does that say about the electorate?

Planting the seeds of an the attack on Iran

This article Iran Is Found To Be a Lair of Al Qaeda reeks of the same odor as the ‘intelligence’ that led to the invasion of Iraq. But it’s just the first seed, a testing of the waters, if you will, for more elaborate fabrications. Watch this story unfold, as it will get better.

Mind you the leadership of Iran does not have any real love for the U.S., but the Bush administration has more personal links to this country than they are willing to admit. Just ask George’s father.

Politicians are now above the Law

If the obvious has not yet been demonstrated clearly, then Bush not ruling out Libby pardon should come as no surprise.

But from here on out all crimes done by Bush Administration Politicians are now above the reach of the law.

It’s no wonder that the Taoiseach Bertie and President Bush are such great friends. They both believe that the ruling class do not observer the same laws as common folks.

Dublin, second city of the British Empire

I was watching a historic program the other day, and was amazed that Dublin was considered the Second City of the British Empire, Second to London! Very interesting, so, in fact the people who pride themselves on being Dubliners are really (secretly) proud to be from the second city of the British Empire 😉 and not really Irish at all :-0

Maybe that is why they continue to believe that corrupt politicians are the norm, and continue to vote for Bertie, better the devil you know, Eh!
