True meanings, Freedom and Liberty

I picked these definitions off a Google search:

Liberty

autonomy: immunity from arbitrary exercise of authority: political independence
freedom of choice; “liberty of opinion”; “liberty of worship”; “liberty–perfect liberty–to think or feel or do just as one pleases”; “at liberty to choose whatever occupation one wishes”
personal freedom from servitude or confinement or oppression

Freedom
the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints
exemption: immunity from an obligation or duty

And then I found the Wikipedia definition. And the interesting thing I found was that the Wiki actually had a different definition for freedom. It’s interesting to note that there are Political versions of the word Freedom. Types, if you will, and this means to me that Freedom can be interpreted to mean different things. Twisted to represent an aspect other than an equal to the word Liberty.

I remember back to the American Revolution, and they were not fighting for freedom, but for liberty.

…Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

Give me Liberty, or give me death!

The current republican corrupters of the constitution have bent this term freedom to mean something other than Liberty. And there is the true spin on their version of “Freedom”. It has become more like the;

  • Freedom of a prison cell (for those who oppose them),
  • Freedom of the poor (be as poor as you wish to be),
  • Freedom from uniform application of the Law (for politicians and corporations),
  • Freedom from competition (if you are an incumbent republican congressman or corporation),
  • Freedom from the truth (the truth only confuses the public).

I’m sure you get the point.

Give me Liberty!

Is anyone going to ring the Liberty bell?
